Shielded cable
A Shielding Cable is a conductor wrapped in a metal Shielding layer (such as braided copper mesh, aluminum foil, etc.) to conduct interfering signals into the ground. Its core structure includes:
Conductor : The inner wire that transmits signals.
Shielding layer : A metallic mesh or foil material (such as red copper, tin-plated copper, aluminum) that wraps around conductors to isolate interference.
Insulation layer : The insulating material that protects the conductor from the shielding layer. Some shielded wires also include the grounding wire.

Overall Shielded cable
A wire wrapped with a conductor outside the conductor is called a shielded cable. The wrapped conductor is called a shielding layer, which is usually a braided copper mesh or copper foil (aluminum). The shielding layer needs to be grounded, and external interference signals can be guided into the earth by this layer.
Function: Prevent interference signals from entering the inner layer and conductor interference while reducing the loss of transmission signals.
Structure:
1. Ordinary：Insulation layer + shielding layer + wire
2. Advanced：Insulation layer + shielding layer + signal wire + shielding layer ground wire
Note: When selecting a shielded wire, the insulation layer of the shielded ground conductor has a conductive function and can be connected to the shielding layer (has a certain resistance).
There are two types of shielding typically used for cables:
1. Foil shield cable
Foil shielding used a thin layer of aluminum, typically attached to a carrier such as polyester to add strength and ruggedness. It provides 100% coverage of the conductors it surrounds, which is good. It is thin, which makes it harder to work with, especially when applying a connector.Usually, rather than attempting to ground the entire shield, the drain wire is used to terminateand ground the shield.
2. Draid shield cable
A braid is a woven mesh of bare or tinned copper wires. The braid provides a low-resistance path to ground and is much easier to termination by crimping or soldering when attaching a connector. But braided shields do not provide 100% coverage. They allow small gaps in coverage. Depending on the tightness of the weave, braids typically provide between 70% and 95% coverage. When the cable is stationary, 70% is usually sufficient. In fact, you won’t see an increase in shielding effectiveness with higher percentages of coverage. Because copper has higher conductivity than aluminum and the braid has more bulk for conducting noise, the braid is more effective as a shield. But it adds size and cost to the cable.
