Conflict Minerals Statement

In recent years there has been increased concern that the exploitation and trade of certain minerals originating in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and surrounding countries are helping to finance armed conflict characterised by extreme levels of violence.

SAISONIC recognises that the extraction, trade, handling and export of cassiterite, columbite-tantalite (coltan), wolframite and gold, and their derivatives tin, tantalum and tungsten, have contributed to armed conflict and human rights abuses in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and its adjoining countries.

 

Policy:

SAISONIC believes that any material that derives from conflict areas should play no role in the operation of the business and it is therefore committed to applying a consistent approach in order to ensure that it respects and adheres to applicable international guidance and regulation (Dodd-Frank Section 1502, EU Due Diligence Regulation 2017/821 & OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict Affected and High Risk Areas).

SAISONIC is committed to identifying, evaluating and where appropriate, rejecting the nominations for tin, tantalum, tungsten and

gold  or “3TG” that could directly or indirectly finance or benefit armed groups in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and surrounding countries.

SAISONIC also expects its suppliers to have a policy in place and to conduct responsible conflict minerals sourcing within their own supply chains through due diligence practices that conform to the OECD Guidance.
